Holiday Runs

While Thanksgiving Day has the honor of being the single biggest race day of the year, I love winter runs.  Last weekend we had our jingle bells on, this weekend we will again.  Running is time with family, a time to be outdoors, and a time to appreciate all that you have.  For Run on Grass, it is also an opportunity to educate people on the benefits of cannabis, and dispel the myths - the refer madness.  Go out for a run, or join us.  But always speak the truth.

Life, Family and all that stuff

Thanksgiving day is the single biggest running day of the year.  My favorite running partner and I will be doing a huge 4 mile run in Naples, FL. www.gobblegobblefourmiler.com  Should be a blast. Then off to Melbourne, FL to speak at CanFest November 26 and 27.  Please come visit, support the end of the drug war.

Get back on the horse

October is certainly the heart of run season.  Lets get back out there and run run run!  If you are the first to email georgia@runongrass.com you will have your entrance fee paid for one of our upcoming runs.  Come join team Run on Grass!  I know I need to get a little Fall run on!

Get outside and talk

This is the greatest time of the year.  The weather is perfect and we all need to be out talking to people about mj.  When was the last time you talked to a stranger about the benefits of cannabis?

Life is good. Good and Crazy.

At the risk of being melodramatic, life is freakin' crazy.  I have spent the bulk of my adult life trying to make things happen in the way I want them.  This year a number of things have gotten in the way of my detailed plan.  A major blow to the ultimate planner.  Wow what a gift.  The experiences I have had have been amazing.  Just starting Run on Grass was something that I never saw myself doing. Now I am going in a direction that feels right.  I am no longer directed by what I THINK I ought to be doing, but I am motivated by what I KNOW is right. So I talk to people about the importance or drug law reform. I tell people the truth about marijuana.  I mother my son and partner with my spouse.  And I run.

5K tomorrow

Tomorrow is race day!  Doesn't matter if it is 3 miles or more, I am excited to run and eductate people on the truth about cannabis!

Run for Congo Women

I have difficulty motivating to run when it is hot - especially in the morning.  I define hot (for running) as anything over 60 degrees.  Surprising coming from somone from Florida!  But when running for a good cause - I have no problem.  Sunday's 5K at Washington Park in Denver is inspiring.  Run for Congo Women - we call all make a difference. As a marijuana activist, I believe in personal freedom, obviously.  A kindred spirit with the cause of the women in the Congo.

Toenails are for sissies

This post is not for the faint of heart.  I just have to get it out.  My toenails do nothing for me.  I am sick and tired of trying to make them happy - they just up and leave me anyway.  I baby my toes.  Tell them how much I appreciate all the miles they put in.  Then damnit, those f-ing toenails jump ship.  Today was the last straw.  On a little four mile jaunt around the golf course one of my EX-toenails tried to leave mid run.  No way little buddy.  Not this time.  Do your job until we get home. Then I will happily let you retire, like all your lazy friends.  Who needs you anyway. Well, I feel better. Thank you.

Volunteer

Someone once told me that for every race you participate in, you should volunteer to work another.  Great advice.  I volunteered at the Colfax Marathon, and was so inspired I decided I really could finish those 26.2 miles that have eluded me thus far.  As Run on Grass is focused around education, and community participation, I want to start organizing some volunteer opportunties as well. Next weekend is the Courage Classic, a 3 day, 155 mile bike tour in the Vail Valley.  The ride benefits Children's Hospital.

New events!

I know you have been waiting - there is a summer full of 5Ks listed on the Upcoming Events page.  We are looking for sponsors to help with the race registration fees and Run on Grass t-shirts.  Contact me if you would like to run, sponsor or both!  Bring your friends and family, a 5K is a perfect distance to just plain have fun!
